Jerold Lee Gammon – Wayne City

Jerold Lee Gammon, 88, of Wayne City, IL passed away on Saturday, December 10, 2022 at Fairfield Memorial Hospital in Fairfield, IL.

Jerold was born on April 25, 1934 in Aden, IL the son of Thurman Jerold Gammon & Adeline W. (Thomason) Gammon.  On March 14, 1957 he married Annabelle (Iles) Gammon, who preceded him in death on July 29, 2017.

Jerold was an owner and trainer of thoroughbred horses and was the Road Commissioner of Orel Township for 29 years.  He was also a U.S. Army veteran, where he served as a Military Police Officer during the Korean War era, and was stationed overseas in Germany.  He was a member of the Olive Branch Missionary Baptist Church in Wayne City, IL.  His passion was playing pool, and he loved spending time with his friends and family.

Jerold is survived by a daughter Jerolyn Robinson of Wayne City, IL; a son Kimmy L. Gammon of Wayne City, 6 grandchildren: Daniel Robinson, Caleb Robinson, Megan Clark, Ginnie Gesell, Amanda Heinzmann, and Ian Gammon; 8 great-grandchildren, and several nieces & nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Thurman & Adeline Gammon, 2 sisters: Christine Rainwater and Janet Gammon, a brother Larry Gammon, a son-in-law Dan Robinson, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services for Jerold Lee Gammon will be held at 12:00 noon on Thursday, December 15, 2022 at Olive Branch Missionary Baptist Church in Wayne City with Rev. Richard McCormick officiating.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until the time of service at 12:00 noon at the church.  Interment will follow the funeral service at Baltimore Cemetery in Wayne City.
