Tammy Lu Sharp – Keenes

Tammy Lu Sharp, 50, of Keenes, IL passed away on Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon, IL.

Tammy was born on July 20, 1972 in Flora, IL the daughter of Steven Jourdan and Connie (Williams) Bonner.  On July 1, 1995 she married Gale Sharp, who survives.

Tammy was a Certified Nursing Assistant at various area nursing homes, and had previously worked at a number of local factories.  She attended Howard Community Chapel in Opdyke.  Tammy enjoyed going to flea markets, collecting cookbooks, collecting Barbie dolls, sewing and crafts.  She also enjoyed gardening, canning, camping and traveling.  She was a “people person” who never met a stranger.  She loved spending time with family & friends.

Tammy is survived by her husband Gale Sharp of Keenes, IL; mother Connie (and step-father Jim) Bonner of Edgewood, IL; a son Andy Sharp (and fiancé Jessica Branson) of Pocahontas, IL; a granddaughter Carley Sharp, 2 brothers: Steven Jourdan Jr. (and significant other Vanessa Blackward Shaw) of Mt. Vernon, IL and Jay Jourdan of Iuka, IL; a half sister Kristien Bonner of Edgewood, IL; 2 half brothers: Tyler Jourdan of Phoenix, AZ and Josh Jourdan of Salem, IL; 2 stepbrothers: Jimmy Bonner (and Sue Christensen) of Texico, IL and Scott (and wife Mary) Bonner of Edgewood, IL; 2 stepsisters: Buffy Bonner of Hoyleton, IL and Chastity (and husband Greg) Smolley of Woodlawn, IL; 2 sisters-in-law: Sharon Sharp of Xenia, IL and Anita Lynch of Flora, IL; a brother-in-law James Simmons of Iuka, IL and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father Steven Jourdan, paternal grandparents Ervin & Jean Jourdan, maternal grandparents Chloris & Adra Williams, father-in-law & mother-in-law Rev. Leonard Sharp & Mrs. Elsie Sharp, 2 brothers-in-law: Donald Sharp and Roy Dickerson, and a sister-in-law Thelma Simmons.

Funeral services for Tammy Lu Sharp will be held at 12 noon on Monday, January 2, 2023 at Young Funeral Home in Wayne City, IL with Pastor Eric Ragan officiating.  Visitation will be held prior to the funeral service from 10 am until the service time at 12 noon at the funeral home.  Interment will follow the funeral service at New Home/Lowery Cemetery near Bluford, IL.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Orchardville Volunteer Fire Department or to Howard Chapel Community Church, and will be accepted at Young Funeral Home in Wayne City.  Online condolences, memories, and words of encouragement may be shared at www.youngfuneralhomellc.com.
