Mount Carmel City Council Receives Update on Cherry Street Project

During Monday’s City Council Meeting, the council received an update on the Cherry Street Brick Project.

There were project delays that happened. Those took part due to a number of reasons, including waiting for the bricks to arrive, it took time for the contractor to become available, What was initially projected as a $24,000 project became a $37,000, but closest to project say that it is close to being complete. Some of the work includes new brick being laid, repairs to water and sewer lines, and repairs of a sinkhole.

The project is being privately funded by donations to the Wabash County Area Economic Alliance. Officials say they are looking to have Cherry Street open within the next week to 10 days.
