Illinois State Police Announce Special Patrols for March

During the month of March, the Illinois State Police will be conducting Occupant Restraint Enforcement Patrols in Clay, White, and Wayne Counties. The patrols allow troopers to focus on safety belt and child safety laws. Illinois law requires all passengers to be always bucked up in the vehicle.

Meanwhile in March, Richland County will be seeing NITE Patrols or Nighttime Enforcement Patrols. Troopers will be looking for dui, safety belt and child safety restraint violations, speeding, distracted driving, and all other Illinois vehicle code and criminal violations. According to ISP, The number of unrestrained drivers killed in traffic crashes is significantly higher at nighttime and combined with impaired driving means even more traffic deaths during the nighttime hours.
