William Hal Faulkner – Carmi

William Hal Faulkner, 80, of Carmi, Illinois, died Friday, February 17, 2023, at his home. He was born September 12, 1942, in McLeansboro, Illinois, the son of Rolla and Thelma (Allen) Faulkner. He was married to Julia Ann (Ackerman) Faulkner, and she survives.

Hal was a United States Navy Veteran and served during the Vietnam War. He was an aircraft mechanic and was assigned to aircraft maintenance while in the Navy. He attended the Roads Church in Norris City, Illinois. Hal was a musician and played banjo, guitar and piano. He enjoyed collecting many things and he enjoyed trading for things. He and Julia Ann enjoyed riding horses and spent much time riding in the Shawnee National Forest.

Survivors include his wife, Julia Ann Faulkner; sons William Collins Faulkner, both of Carmi, Tim Hall of Venice, Florida; grandchildren Jessica (Michael) Phillips, James (Tess) Hall, Derek (Tiffany) Hall, and Baylea Faulkner; great-grandchildren Eadie Rose Hall, Daxton Hall, and Madison Hall.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and sister Sondra Julian.

Visitation and funeral are Friday, February 24, 2023, at Cook Funeral Chapel in Carmi, Illinois. Visitation is at 11 am and continues until funeral at 1 pm. Burial with military honors will be in Kuykendall Cemetery near Carmi, Illinois.
