Storms Leave A Little Damage In Our Area; Flooding Next Concern

Thunderstorms moved through the area yesterday ahead of a cold front that has cooled things down for the area. While there was only 1 warning issued for our entire listening area on Wednesday, there were several damage reports. In Hamilton County, there was damage reported to the Helena Plant on 142 near Dale. In White County, there was a report of 50-mile-per-hour wind gusts that topped a tree and knocked off an old satellite dish from a roof. Storms increased in intensity moving off to the east of the area.

Flood Warnings are now in place for portions of the area. Checking River stages right now, the Little Wabash River at Clay City is at 14.73 feet and rising. At Golden Gate, the reading was 24.98 feet and rising. At Carmi, the reading was 31.67 feet and rising. The Wabash River at Mount Carmel is at 22.97 feet. On the Skillet Fork at Wayne City, the reading was at 8.37 feet. On Bonpas Creek at Browns, the gauge was reading 15.91 feet.
