Grayville City Council Meeting Recap from 4/10

The Grayville City Council Meeting was a short one Monday Evening.

At the beginning of the meeting, the council approved the consent agenda.

In the treasurer’s report, it was reported that there was 1,898,634.13 in the restricted account, 935,328.25 in the investment account, and 288,595.98 cash on hand for a total of 3,122,558.36.

In the police report, 125 calls were made for service with 35 case files and 18 criminal arrests. 13 traffic citations and 3 traffic warnings were issues. The department drove over 3,000 miles. Police officials say a couple of new officers will be joining the force over the next few months as they are awaiting a couple of officers to graduate the academy at Southwestern Illinois.

During the meeting, it was mentioned that there were some issues with illegal dumping in the area. Commissioner Jordan made comments that drywall and some metal dining room chairs were dumped into the brush pit at the park and he doesn’t want to see the pit shut down.

Mayor Thompson announced there will be a meeting on Thursday at 7 in Albion in regards to the water filtration plant.

The council also discussed welcome signs for coming into Grayville.

The council under old business approved on 2nd and 3rd reading on the sale of real estate in the 1-64 development area. The council also made a pair of TIF agreements in the council meetings.

Under new business, the council moved to approved the 2022-23 budget. They also approved a revolving loan request with Bayou Boutique. The board approved a bid to get a new truck from a Greenfield dealership. The total was in the neighborhood of $46,050. The truck according to the dealer is not in stock, but the price would be locked in and delivered upon when the vehicle is ready.

The city pool of Grayville was discussed at the meeting. Currently, the pool is still taking in applications for lifeguards and managers. The last day of application is later this month.

The City is also looking at setting up a policy for tree work. Several members of the council feel a policy needs to be in place to deal with three work moving forward.

An update on the sewer upgrade project, the council is trying to figure out a shortfall in making upgrades to the system. The city has grant funding for the work, but it has to be decided by April 29th and submitted.

Council members also announced trash pickup day in Grayville will be moving. The new trash pickup day will be on Thursdays. City officials recommend trash be set out for pickup on Wednesday Evening.

Finally, the council tabled the purchase of a mower attachment for an excavator. The bid was $6500 for the attachment.
