The FCHS Board met Thursday evening for their regular monthly meeting.
With the new board being seated, outgoing board members Chris Miller, JC McDuffee , and Tony Conrad were presented with appreciation gifts for their many years of service to the board. New members seated were Eddie Barbre, Nate Carter, and Derek Smothers.
The old board acted on several items before the new board was seated. They included:
Certifying election results from April 4, 2023
Approve doors for the gym lobby project at a cost of $47,000
Approve plumbing for the gym lobby at a cost of $2,675
Approve HVAC work for the gym lobby at a cost of $11,600
Approve concrete repair for the gym lobby at a cost of $12,880
Approve roof repair for the gym lobby at a cost of $49,700
The new members were administered the Oath of Office and were seated. At this point, nominations were sought for Board President, Vice President, and Secretary. The following board members were nominated and unanimously elected:
Board President Matt Rush
Vice President Jeremy Carter
Secretary Kim King
The board then approved several formalities such as, meeting dates, depositories, policy manuals, and Rules of Order.
The new board then addressed their agenda items:
Accepted the resignation of Michelle Richards effective June 2026.
Accepted the cooperative milk bid from Prairie Farms
Approved the purchase of Teacher Ease for student management system
Approved the purchase of a Chrysler Pacifica van from Lemonds at a cost of $38,767
After a lengthy Executive Session the board acted on the following personnel matters:
Hired John Lafikas as a Math Teacher
Hired Karly Taylor as an English Teacher
