A couple of structure fires to the northwest of the Fairfield area caused damage Friday but no reports of injuries.
Media reports said Centralia city firemen were called to a fire Friday night at the Queen City Motel. Firemen said no one was in the room where the fire began, and firemen were able to contain the fire to the one room. The cause remains under investigation. Firemen got the call around 9:45 Friday night and were on scene for about two hours.
Earlier in the day Friday, fire caused heavy damage to a mobile home in Central City. Reports said the home’s occupant had left just before the fire began. The cause was not immediately determined. Flames were reported shooting from the bedroom area when firefighters arrived. The alarm came in just after 2 p.m. Friday, with firemen on scene for about six hours.
