William Larry Blackford, 80, of Fairfield passed away at 7:37PM on Friday May 19, 2023, at his home. He was an Industrial Arts Teacher for 30+ years having spent the majority of his career at FCHS. Larry was born in Clarksville TN on November 6, 1942, to William Leslie and Helen Mills (Minor) Blackford. He married Judy Holekamp on March 29, 1969. Larry enjoyed working in the yard, riding the tractor, or anything outdoors. He loved traveling all over, especially spending a lot of time at their Kentucky Lake home. But Larry’s passion was sports, he rarely missed an FCHS sporting event. Larry especially loved watching his grandkids compete during their grade school and high school sporting events.
Larry is survived by his wife- Judy Blackford of Fairfield; sons- Jeffrey Blackford of Evansville IN and Craig (Jerilyn) Blackford of Olney; grandchildren- Maddison Blackford of Olney, Aidan Blackford and Mia Blackford both of Evansville IN; Sister- June (Blakey) Bradley of Clarksville TN.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, and brother- Don Blackford.
Funeral Services will be held at 1PM on Thursday May 25, 2023, at Cornerstone Community Church in Fairfield with burial in Maple Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11AM until the time of service at the church.
In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cornerstone Community Church or the American Cancer Society and will be accepted at the Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home which is in charge of all the arrangements.
