Here’s the area river stages as of this morning:  Little Wabash River east of Fairfield is at 5.62 feet.  Flood stage is 17 feet.  At Clay City the river is at 4.42 feet.  Flood stage is 18 feet.  At Carmi the river is at 3.82 feet.  Flood stage is 27 feet.  The Skillet Fork at Wayne City is at 5.05 feet.  Flood stage is 15 feet.  The Wabash River at Mt. Carmel is at 4.56 feet.  Flood stage is 19 feet.  Bonpas Creek at Browns reads 1.42 feet this morning.

The National Weather Service in Paducah, KY reported several inches of rain fell in far-southern Illinois earlier this week and into western Kentucky.  Most  of the heavy rain fell just to the south and southwest of the Wayne County area.  Rainfall amounts of over five inches were reported in most areas in a few hours, with some areas into western Kentucky picking up over ten inches of rainfall.  The current weather forecast for our area is showing just a small chance of rain Sunday, otherwise mainly sunny skies, with a gradual warmup in temperatures through next week, with high temperatures at least into the mid 90s.
