Three Students Receive Fran Carter Scholarship

The Fran Carter Memorial Scholarship was established with the Jerry Carter Family and the Frontier Community College Foundation in November of 2020. Frances was a devoted wife, mother, and nana. She dedicated her days to raising her children and grandchildren, attending every imaginable event in their lives, all the while, managing the family business, Carter Trucking & Carter Farms. She also blessed countless lives with her selfless friendship and acts of love. She was a faithful member of Fairfield First Christian Church and a valuable worker in her community, serving on the Mill Shoals Grade School Board, and volunteering at Feed My Sheep, and over ten years on the Frontier Community College Foundation board. She also took many classes at Frontier throughout her adulthood. She was a fan of local small businesses in the Fairfield community and always did her best to shop locally first.

Frances was often seen behind the fence or in the bleachers at community sporting events as a faithful fan of her children and grandchildren. She had a love for her family, sports, the college and community. When the foundation established this scholarship, they worked with the family and felt I was fitting to identify student-athletes of high character to benefit financially from Fran’s memory.

This year, the three student-athletes that received the scholarship were Katherine Hibbitt (softball), Chloe Ledendecker (volleyball), and Aydin Wright (baseball). They have shown exceptional work ethics inside the classroom and on the field/court and are all a great representation of Frontier Community College.
