The McLeansboro City Council met earlier this week.
The council approved a request by John Mahalek concerning a water main extension for his residence on West Moore Place. The extension will take place pending the annexing of the property since it’s just outside city limits, and then going through an application process.
They tabled the employing of a school resource officer, of which 80% would be paid by the school district pending approval by the school board. The council will form a committee to work with the school board on a proposal and bring back recommendations to be voted on.
It was agreed to purchase two unoccupied trailers from the county tax sale.
The city will continue its current hay lease agreement with Caleb Burris and pay the $96 tax.
There are three part-time employees that will receive a $1 hourly wage increase immediately and another $1 increase starting in January.
Kent Braden was promoted to supervisor pay.Liability and workers comp policies for 2024 will be increased from $5 million to $10 million.
The city received three sealed bids for a vac trailer. The matter was tabled until further details can be looked into.
No action was taken concerning how to handle the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF) Liability as they will continue with the current method.
The board approved a $250 Christmas bonus for each full-time employee and $100 for each part-time employee, the same amount as last year.They also approved the Klingner Invoice in the amount of $781.20 regarding the Sanitary Sewer Project.
In the Police Department report, they have an officer currently training at the academy, 16 properties received notices to mow their properties and they all seem to be trying to comply, and they received a $4,500 grant for new tasers.
There was the first reading of an Ordinance regarding the sale of excess property and equipment. There are two properties at 133 and 508 Jackson Street, and the equipment is a 2021 Skag Cheetah, a 2008 bush hog, a 2006 Ford F150, and two 2001 Dodge Ram 2500s.
The Consent Agenda was approved, which includes the approvals of a TIF reimbursement of $300.50 for William and Beth Sandusky and a TIF Façade Grant reimbursement of $2,500 for Pat Fuquay, accepting the resignation of Chase Partain, and approving a resolution to hold the Christmas Parade on Saturday December 2nd from 5 to 6 PM.
