Busy Day for Meetings In the Area

The Edwards County Commissioners will be holding their meeting this morning at 9 at the Edwards County Courthouse. Items on the agenda include from the county Highway Department, a resolution for township bridge funds, county highway bidding or building bid results also a look into some policies to approve including ethics and conflict of interest request for accommodation policy and drug-free workforce policy. For the GWRPC, they will look to update and appoint someone for approval. They’ll be working on the 2024 fiscal year budget as well as looking to approve the 2023 audit with Walter accounting. The county will also look at the solar ordinance amendment, a solar application approval and then reappoint Dorothy Kuykendall to the Rides Mass Transit District Board.
Also in Albion this evening, the Albion City Council is set to meet at 7. That meeting will be held at Albion City Hall.  Under old business the city will look for the potential of putting up stop signs on Main street at Third street. Discussion of placing stop signs on Elm Street at the intersection of 6th and 7th and look at the roof report for Albion City Hall. Albion City Council again meets at seven this evening.
The Flora City Council up in Clay County meets at 4:30 this afternoon.  On the agenda, Morgan Doggett with Drew Lane Consultants will be on hand to provide an update on a grant. Also, Lee Beckman from Milano and Grunlow Engineers will be on hand to provide updates on grants. The city will look into a resolution approving the Illinois Housing Development Authority Strong Communities Program. That’s on the list for $185,000. The city will also look at an ordinance approving the extension of the letter of intent to purchase commercial lots at the Floor Commerce Plaza subdivision. Also on the agenda, the city council will look to open a couple of new checking accounts, one for the Strong Communities Grant program and one for the Community Development block grant program. Under building and zoning, the city will look at an ordinance approving the sale of real estate at 549 West Fifth Street in Florida. They will also look into a couple of resolutions declaring the Kinmundy Bank real estate as unsafe and a dangerous site as well as declaring the Allen Slagley real estate as unsafe and dangerous. Located at 624 West Sixth Street, there is a closed session on the agenda as well. The city council in Flora meets at 430 this afternoon at Flora City Hall.
The Wayne City Village Board meets at seven this evening at Wayne City Village Hall. Under old business. They will be discussing the old hotel. Under new business, the village will look to adopt an ordinance to bring the village of Wayne City their tax levy of the year. An ordinance for fiscal year that begins May of 2023 hitting in April of 2024. They will also look into the IMLRMA Insurance annual invoice, a thanksgiving meal donation of $200, and an employee handbook update. The village will also look to adopt a couple ordinances, one imposing a monthly water tower maintenance fee of $5 to local water bills and an ordinance authorizing the purchase of real estate, which is the old shell gas station located at 204 and 208, West Robinson Street. Finally, the village board will look at hiring a utility worker.
