Clay County Sheriff’s Office responded to Casey’s in Clay City to investigate a possible theft. Casey’s personnel advised that they had located a credit card skimmer on one of the gas pumps. Skimmers are devices that are placed on fuel pumps, ATM’s, and other machines that accept credit/debit cards in order to steal your account information. The sheriff’s office is hoping with assistance from Casey’s personnel to be able to narrow down the timeframe as to when the device was placed on the pump as the investigation continues. If anyone believes that their debit/credit card has been compromised please notify the bank or credit card company.
