Latest COVID Info

The latest update on COVID-19 information shows south central Illinois, including Wayne County, remains at a low level of hospitalizations. The weekly tracker from the CDC shows three new hospitalizations in Wayne and Jefferson counties within the past week, and no new hospitalizations in Clay County, and three in Marion County. 23 new hospitalizations were reported in Clinton and St. Clair counties.

Just two counties in Illinois are at the medium level for hospitalizations. They include Johnson and Massac counties in far-southern Illinois. The number of COVID-19 hospitalizations has dropped 14 percent with just over 15,000 new hospitalizations across the country.

Reports did say the Marion County Health Department Administrator reported three congregate care facilities remained on outbreak status, but two facilities in Salem had no new cases in the past week and would be removed from outbreak status if there were no new cases by this week. A facility in Centralia did have five new residents and ten staff members test positive for COVID-19 in the past week.
