FCHS Hires New Principal

The FCHS Board met Thursday evening for their regular monthly meeting. Personnel and building issues dominated the agenda.
In personnel matters:
Tiffany Lyons was unanimously hired as the districts new Principal. Lyons replaces Bob Wells, who will assume the Superintendent position next school year.
The board accepted the resignation of Coleman Fitch as a Social Science Instructor and hired Hayden McDuffee as his replacement.
Tenure was granted to the following instructors:

Brianna Bridgeman
Collen McDuffee
Rehired as non-tenured:
Jonathon Lafikas
Chastity Suddarth
Carly Taylor
Nate Neal
Megan Pearce
Shelby Benskin
Billy Rogers
A $379,000 base bid was unanimously approved from Shores Builders LLC for construction work on the gym remodel. An additional bid of $58,700 to totally replace the upper bleachers was approved with No votes coming from Matt Rush, Eddie Barbre, and Derek Smothers.
The board approved the monthly bills with No votes coming from Matt Rush and Eddie Barbre. They both had an issue with paying an employee mileage when the district had vehicles available for use.
The board approved a 3 year contract with New Hope Grade School for transportation. The agreement is for $92,000, up from the current $80,000.
The board also purchased a pole vault pit for $20,535. The pit purchased is used for the State Track Meet for boys and girls.
The board approved an upgraded door access system at a cost of $7,461.
IHSA membership was unanimously approved and a brief discussion was held concerning Girls Flag Football.

Principal Wells also advised the board that the FCHS Pep Band played at the IHSA State Basketball Tournament and were a big hit.
The FCHS Drama Departments production of Into the Woods was excellent.
The FCHS administration will be conducting Senior Exit Interviews to assist in decision making on several district topics.
Principal Wells also expressed his appreciation to the Fairfield/Wayne County Chamber of Commerce for Eclipse shirts and glasses provided to each student.
