We are excited to announce Fairfield’s own, Mark Wells, as News Director here at WFIW/WOKZ.

Mark is a 1981 graduate of Fairfield Community High School. His broadcasting career began early in 1979 as part-time/weekend announcer right here in Fairfield on WFIW.  After graduating high school, he transitioned to a full-time DJ/Announcer role and was a valued voice here in our community from 1979-1994.

Mark then served the city of Fairfield as a Dispatcher for the Fairfield Police Department for 9 years.  After that, he joined the Illinois State Police where he proudly served for 24 years as a Telecommunications Specialist.  Mark retired from the Illinois State Police at Duquoin on April 1st, 2023.

Mark also volunteers in ministry for Pure Word Radio on WVYN The Vine and currently serves as a Bus Driver for Fairfield Community High School.

We are thrilled to have Mark Wells back on the air once again as a familiar voice here in Fairfield on WFIW/WOKZ.  Your news with Mark Wells begins Monday, May 13th!
