David R. Lemmon, 70, of Mount Vernon, Illinois passed away at 2:01 A.M. June 6, 2019 at his residence in Mount Vernon, Illinois. He was born February 16, 1949 in Mount Vernon, Illinois to the late James Lemmon and Helen Hutchcraft. David married Elizabeth “Libbye” Harrison on July 28, 1981 in Mount Vernon, Illinois. They were blessed with nearly thirty-eight years of marriage.
In addition to his wife, David is survived by his sons, Sean Lemmon and partner, Kelly Kirk of Mount Vernon, Illinois and Zachary Lemmon and partner, Kami Moss of McLeansboro, Illinois; daughter, Jessica Stover and partner, Dan Chapman of McLeansboro, Illinois; grandchildren, Luke Stover, Caden Stover, Samuel Chapman all of McLeansboro, Illinois, Jackson Lemmon of Berea, Kentucky, and Zachary Lemmon, Jr. of Irvine Kentucky; brother, Gerald Lemmon and wife, Theresa of Tulllahoma, Tennessee; sister, Sherry Moss and husband, Larry of Mount Vernon, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.
David was preceded in death by his parents, James Lemmon and Helen Hutchcraft.
David worked as a computer analyst for Xerox Corporation which he later retired from. He was of Episcopal Faith and loved animals especially his dogs. David loved music and enjoyed playing his fiddle. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
Per Davids request a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of David’s memory, Memorials may be made to the Jefferson County Animal Shelter.
