William “Bill” Wagner, age 82, of Fairfield passed away Friday, November 20, 2020 at Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville, Indiana.
Bill was born at home in the Pond Creek area bottoms of Wayne County on September 1, 1938 to Roland D. and Genevieve (Shewmake) Wagner. He was the youngest of three children. Bill married Charlene Crawford at the home of her parents in 1964 in Fairfield and they have enjoyed 56 years together. Bill was a proud veteran of the United States Army and had been a pulling unit operator for W & W Oil Company and Aman Oil Company.
Left to cherish many wonderful memories are wife, Charlene, daughter Bonnie (Jerry Mills) Wagner, sons, Billy and David Wagner, one granddaughter, Kimberly Riddle, one great grandson, Aiden Riddle, son-in-law Robert Riddle all of Fairfield and special cousins, Linda (Bob) Payton, Karen Haiman, Barbara Lowe, Eva Lowe, Marilyn (Ken) Vogres and Darrell (Jean) Hurt. Preceding Bill in death were his parents, son John Wagner, daughter, Bobbi Riddle, grandson Joey Riddle, one brother and one sister.
Graveside services for Bill Wagner will be held Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at 11:00am at Union Cemetery east of Fairfield. Friends and family are asked to go directly to the cemetery. There will be no visitation. Please follow the CDC guidelines of social distancing and the wearing of masks. Memorials may be made to the family to help with funeral expenses and will be accepted at Nale’s Funeral Home in Fairfield or at the service.
